Adam Webster’s Journey
We explore Adam Webster’s journey so far, which started at the age of 11 at Portsmouth FC where he enjoyed 10+ years at the club. He made his professional debut at the age of 17.
Adam Webster discusses how luck played its part in him succeeding at Portsmouth. He was out of the squad with four games remaining on his contract.
Fortunately for Adam Webster the manager at the time was sacked and the replacement manager Gary Waddock favoured the young centre back. Giving him a chance in the final four games of the season, which he grabbed with both hands.
Fast forward a couple of seasons, the centre back really started to progress in his career. He signed a contract for the championship side Ipswich and then progressing further to Bristol City, where he won fans player of the season.
Finally, the biggest move for both Webster and Brighton & Hove saw the centre back sign for a fee of £20 million back in 2019.
This episode gives us a true insight into the sacrifices it took to perform at the highest level for Webster. At the age of 16 he moved out of his family home to live in Portsmouth. He didn’t go to any parties and just dedicated his life to becoming a professional footballer.
